San Luis obispo, Pismo Beach area

Planning on spending a night in this area next weekend. Any lodging recommendations?

Avila has been recommended as well. Have never been in this area so not sure what to expect

Thanks for any suggestions.

Many places in the area require a 2 night minimum. In Pismo, we have stayed at several of the Pacifica hotel group's properties. Our favorite was Cottage Inn by the Sea. Sometimes they will have promos.

Avila is nice too.

If you want to be in SLO proper, we always stayed at La Cuesta Inn. Our daughter was in college at the time, so it was handy to Cal Poly and town.

DD graduated in June, so fewer trips down there for us. . We love it down there.

Call direct to see if you can get a one night stay.

I think it's parents weekend at Cal Poly or something next weekend, prices are up.

Try ShellBeachInn.com near Pismo, or SeasideMotel.com in Cayucos.

We like Pismo Beach for its rooms with ocean views, such as the "ocean front" rooms at the Best Western Shore Cliff Lodge.

If it's for Saturday night I would book something a.s.a.p. as lots of places are already full.

If it is indeed Parents Weekend -- I might consider hitting a different part of the coast. Might be easier to find accommodations.

My favorite is the Sea Venture Inn because you can walk out the door and straight onto the beach! Sycamore Mineral Springs is also nice and within walking distance to the Bob Jones Trail... For walking or biking.

On booking.com, the Avila Inn has a room, for $509 a night. It says "will likely sell out in the next 3 hours". Not much else in that category available.

Cal Poly parent weekend is in October, but next weekend is Sunset Magazine's Savor the Central Coast. This may be the reason for $$$ for hotels.

Both of our favorites in the area (Anderson Inn and Estero Inn) are in Morro Bay. It's a quieter area than Pismo or SLO, and the accomodation/restaurant options are better imo.

fdecarlo: Neither the Anderson Inn nor Estero has availability this weekend.

I like the Beach Bungalow in Morro Bay...very retro looking motel with cool, updated rooms. There is still availability this weekend but a two-night stay is required.
