Talk about Memory Lane! My husband took me to the Tonga Room when we were dating in college in 1962. I thought it was sooo fantastic and sophisticated. So when my husband retired I thought it would be a fun surprise to take him back there as a surprise.

We were staying on Fisherman's Wharf, and I slipped the cab driver the location of where we were going and told him not to say it out loud. My husband had no idea where we were going. We got to the Tonga Room and he was so surprised. I told the maitre d' that the last time we were there was 40 years before, and they couldn't have been more excited for us.

We had a photo taken by the roving photographer, just as we did 40 years before, and they brought us a special dessert as a gift. When we were leaving they said that they hoped we would come back before another 40 years went by! It was very fun.

Thank you everybody, don't have time to fool around here these days... can somebody recommend another place, fun for multi-generational family?

What about that rotating place at Embarcadero Hyatt?

Hi Faina, the Emcardero Hyatt is fun. Sometimes playing "tourist" is a good idea. I always have so much fun in SF when I have houseguest - I go to places that I normally don't go to.

I haven't been to the CliftHouse since they reopened but I would think that would be a great place for a drink at sunset.

Faina, don't forget the Top of the Mark at the Mark Hopkins.

Talk to you later. Have a good day.
