>>>We'll probably do Ripley's and then maybe go to Ghiradelli for dinner - from what I understand that's a bit better area - although we did get a recommendation on Lonely Planet for a restaurant at FW - Alioto's. We'll see.<<<
Why don't you just walk past Ghiradelli & then south on Van Ness a couple of blocks to Chestnut. Turn right & walk 7 flat blocks to Fillmore and then start to look for some restaurants on Chestnut till Broderick (& south 1 blk on Pierce & Scott streets too). There will be about 20 restaurants in this area - all quite nice & reasonably priced. This is where a lot of SF residents dine - especially the younger crowd. Try Isa, A19, Cafe Mirimba, Bistro Aix, Izzy's steak house, just to name a few. If you can't find one you like, head south on Fillmore & there will be about 6 or 7 more. If that's not enough, turn right on Union, go 2 blocks, then turn around and walk east on Union till Gough - about 20 more restaurants. Far more interesting and more "SF style" than Alioto's. Have a drink at Matrix/Fillmore just south 2 blocks on Fillmore, or Calif Wine Merchant wine bar, or Cozmos, etc. There are even a few burger places if you like that style & an Amici's pizza.
I've been sitting out on the deck in my shorts & t-shirt all day. Hope the weather holds - we're kinda having a heat wave - mid 70s. If it holds till this weekend, Folsom St on Sun after the Fetish Ball should be quite interesting.

Oops - I thought the Sunday events on Folsom St were a carry over from the Fetish Ball on Sat. It's not - I got it confused with the Folsom Street fair - a different event and not this weekend.

Wait till she gets here today from the east coast, & finds out temps are in the upper 70s.
