Can anyone recommend a very nice hotel at Fisherman's Wharf?

I'm not sure if it qualifies as "very nice," but I like the Courtyard Marriott on Beach Street.

We stayed at the Marriot on Bay, which was very comfortable. I wouldn't classify is as "very nice" though. I don't know if there are any really nice places down there.

Not having stayed at any of the hotels in this area, my perception is the Argonaut might well be the best of the lot around Fisherman's Wharf. It must have some nice views at least.

when you say - you donh't know if there are any really nice places down there - is the area not nice - is it safe - or just a tourist trap?? Don't think we can do the hills in town - so was looking at Fisherman's Wharf - as it looks to still be closer to things - trolly etc. Thanks for your help.

The bus, trolley and streetcar lines are so efficient you really don't need to worry much about "the hills." FW is really pretty touristy.

Hello applejack, what kind of places do you want to be close to? May I ask what you are planning on seeing when you will be in San Francisco?

We actually plan to use the Grayline tours - as we don't drive when traveling and walking is a problem for one in our group.

We stayed at Sheraton, Club Level. Nice, no problems, good location.
