The Mission is a live and kicking Parish, which means that Sunday morning is when a number of masses are scheduled. But Sunday afternoon nothing is going on til 5:30. On their web page, click the box labeled "Parish Information".

Check the water temperature with your toe or something more substantial before renting the snorkel gear. It may be too cold for your tastes.

Well, I had a wonderful weekend. I started out early Friday morning driving from North Bluff Preserve down the route suggested by tchoiniere. I stopped and toured the Birch Aquarium as soon as it opened. It was much smaller than I anticipated, but the seahorse exhibit was fascinating and the view out to the ocean was worth seeing. From there I drove the rest of the scenic drive to La Jolla Cove. It was a bit chilly since it was still early in the day and I decided against getting in the water but I enjoyed the view and people-watching . From there, I decided to drive over to Sea World - they were open until 11pm for summer hours. I was pleasantly surprised - I had a great time and since I had never been to a Sea World before I was impressed by the beatiful dolphins, whales, and other marine life. The shows were short but very well done with acrobats and divers, etc, that were quite talented.
Saturday I slept in and then drove to Old Town and took the Old Town Trolley tour around San Diego. It was fun, but compared to other Old Town Trolley tours I've been on, it wasn't as good as the others. After some browsing and shopping at various stops I decided to drive my car out to Coronado and spend some time at the beach. I read and enjoyed the gorgeous view. I did get a bit of a sunburn since the mild temperatures deceived me into thinking i wasn't getting too much sun! After some time at the beach, I decided to check out some of the other beaches and made my way towards Ocean Beach. I parked and wasn't out of the car for 5 minutes before deciding it wasn't somewhere I really wanted to spend anymore time. I headed back towards the hotel, did some shopping and watched the Eat, Pray, Love movie at the local cinema.
Sunday, I slept in again and then went back to Coronado for more beach time. Then I went for drinks in the Gaslamp, and dinner back in Old Town where I watched some of the live music/entertainers in the Fiesta de Reyes.

All in all, it was a very relaxing and enjoyable weekend. Thanks to everyone for the great suggestions.
