Have been to San Diego twice, staying at the Coronado Hotel once, and in LaJolla the other time, but thinking of four nights in "downtown".
Would like to keep the room under $120 a night and have found rates for all three above hotels at that. Comments? Any others instead?

I don't know much about the hotels you mention, because, of course, I live here. But, the Prava has a great location right in the Gaslamp District. The flip side is parking, if you will have a car - which you will need. I don't know if they have any parking on site. Perhaps you already know the answer to that. August is pretty busy in San Diego, so you're wise to plan now.

We'll have an excuse to arrange another GTG when you're here!

The Prava was a nice place, budget, nothing fancy, but nice. There was parking next door, maybe about $15 a night extra? The Comfort Inn Suites seemed pretty tacky. I don't know the Bristol.
