San Diego Memorial Weekend Trip

Hoping for some inside info on SD. Will be visiting Memorial weekend (already aware the city will be a zoo). We are staying at Hilton Resort. I understand it is newly renovated--any thoughts on the hotel and amenities itself? Also, from other posts, it looks like the hotel is not close to restaurants, attractions, etc. Would a rental car or public transp. be more cost efficient (taxi's or trolley). Is there a trolley stop nearby? What good moderately priced fresh seafood restaurants are recommended? How far is the boardwalk? Just stream of consciousness questions. Thank you. CM

The Trolley doesn't go anywhere near the Hilton Resort. The hotel is not walking distance to anything, but it's a nice location. You will need a car.

The Boardwalk is right at the opposite side of Mission Bay Park. You could ride bikes to it, or drive. Long walk.

Hilton Resort in Mission Bay is a nice hotel but removed somewhat but you can rent bikes and take the boardwalk all the way around to Mission Beach/Pacific Beach along the bayside and beach and its a great workout and very scenic!
I would rent a car...
Hotwire has some great deals..
Brigantine Restaurants throughout SD have the best Seafood Happy Hour with $2 fish tacos that are delicous..also, love the Crab Catcher in LJ..they have a fab Happy Hour with lots of fresh seafood and ocean views too..
George's in LJ is outstanding and for lunch sit out on the terrace.
Hilton has all kinds of water sport activities that you can rent.
Memorial Day will be a zoo but join in on the fun and have a great time!

Agree with the previous poster on George's, excellent food and the newly remodeled dining room looks very nice from the website. We dined there in Dec. right before the remodel.

Crab Catcher also has great clam chowder, the views from the outside patio where we dined were very pretty. Enjoy your time in San Diego! ***kim***

Thanks for the info. Anyone heard of a car rental company by the name of Rent 4 Less? I found an outstanding deal on their site, but there were 2 bad reviews on Trip Advisor.

Many thanks.
