San Diego -- Little Italy restaurant suggestions needed

Having a reunion soon with some school friends (class of '65) who are flying in from around the country. I live in Southern California, but I don't know San Diego too well. I suggested Little Italy for dinner one evening. Can anyone suggest a good restaurant there? Moderately priced with good food would fit this diverse group. Thanks.

I like Cafe Zucchero on India St. It's not a large place, so be sure to call well ahead if you need a large table or separate room.

Hi there. I'm back from my reunion. We did go over to Little Italy with an attempt to get into Filippi's. The line was about 90 minutes -- at least that's what they told us at the restaurant. So we walked down the street to Mona Lisa's. It was okay, but not great. I can't, in good conscience, recommend it.

luvtotravel, this is too late for you this trip, but there is a fabulous Cajun restaurant on Kettner Blvd, between Hawthorne and Grape, called Bud's Louisiana Food and Shoppe. It's small, only a dozen or so tables, but the food is great and it's very friendly and not expensive. Obviously, Cajun/Creole food.

Filippe's is great but was very busy every time we walked by. I don't know if they do reservations or not. Prices were very reasonable.

I was there a year ago and it certainly wasn't fancy but man, they had some awesome pizza!

I enjoy walking around Little Italy but have only stopped to sit down to have coffee and pastry and such. Anyone know if the fresh San Diego fish is served in any of the Little Italy restaurants? I am really interested in this.
