So Who Gave or Received a Trip as a Christmas Present?

Well, I can finally spill the beans - I gave my hubby a trip as a big Christmas present. I could never tell before b/c he sometimes lurks here, but I can now tell the world!

I gave him a 4 night, three day trip to Universal Studios. He's been wanting to go to ride the Mummy, supposedly one of the best rides ever. Now for those of you who scoff as this as a trip, we also travel Europe, the Caribbean, etc. for trips, but we are both amusement park junkies as well. We leave in 9 days!

Anyone else give or receive a trip for Christmas?

Sounds like a great time, radiofanatic!

My sister and I gave my mom first class tickets to Rome, Italy...somewhere she's wanted to go all her life. We all three leave in March.

We gave each other a pre-Christmas trip to Boston and New Hampshire. We never gave each other a trip for Christmas before this year. Now that we have done so, I think we will do it every year. There's nothing like taking some time together.

Have a great trip radiofanatic!!

I received a weekend trip to an inn on Shelter Island, NY. Any ideas on things to do there in the winter?

I didn't receive, but I gave...My sister a $300 CO gift cert to be able to come out for a visit. It would have been hard for her to find the money on her own.

Last Christmas, oldest sister and I went together and booked youngest sister and Mom on Zenith to BDA.(We went too) That was a fun gift-sister understood little bear holding beach bag immediately,Mom thought I gave her a stuffed animal! I had made a mini copy of itenerary and out it in bear's bag. now Mom can't wait to cruise again!

Does part of a trip count? As I already mentioned on another thread, my brother is paying for two of our four tickets so that my family can join him, his girlfriend and our other brother in Ireland in March! Pretty good brother, huh?!

What a nice gift from your sons, stw! Enjoy it!

I'm so excited about our trip. And so panicked! I haven't been on a plane since Christmas of '82!

Thanks for your so very generous offer, stw!

And thanks for the reminder, Judy. We've already scoped out the fact that our local post office, just up the street, has a passport office!

My husband and I actually had passports. Ironically, the only other time we've been off the continent was to Ireland and England! But that was nearly 26 years ago! I have no idea what ever happened to those very-expired passports. That won't cause a problem when we go to get new ones, will it?

The main present I gave my 21-year old daughter was a flight to Virginia Beach to visit a girlfriend who just graduated.

For my 18-year old son, his main gift was a snowboarding trip to Utah with some classmates. He went right before Christmas so it was an early present.

At the bottom of each of our stockings was a 'special ticket' to the Bahamas in January!

My 8yr old still believes in Santa and was amazed that Santa had finally been able to organise this as this was what she asked for LAST year!!!

How cute, highflyer! Don't know that I've ever heard of a child that age asking for a trip to the Bahamas!

Have fun!

Well, since no one ever takes my hints at wanting trips as a gift, I gave a trip this year. I gave a 4 day cruise to my S/O for both Christmas and his birthday (Well, also my own as well, since our birthdays are 3 days apart). It'll be his first time cruising and my second, so it should prove rather interesting....

To CAPH,

My daughter loves travelling and was a bit put out that her big brother was going to the Bahamas with his Scout troop, hence the request.

She's also asked for a trip to Alaska as she has studied the state in school!

Good luck with your trip!

We gave our oldest daughter a cruise. She's going in March with her college friends. She already knew she was going, but she thought she was paying for it, so we wrapped up a big bag with a poster of a ship, sun screen lotion, beach towel, travel books, etc., and told her we were paying for her trip as part of her Christmas.

We gave our middle daughter (freshman in college) a ticket to Boston to see her high school friend at Harvard. Also gave her a "trip" to the Fox Theater in Atlanta (about 30 miles away!) with 4 Wicked tickets for May 2006.

They were both very excited.
