San Diego Gas Lamp District Parking?

We are staying in La Jolla tmrw night on a spur of the moment trip. We would like to drive to the Gas Lamp District clubs area. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where the easiest place to park would be? Would like to spend the evening walking about the area. Not familiar with the area at all. Are parking garages easily available? stree parking? any info would be appreciated.

I don’t know what time you plan to arrive but if you buy something at Horton Plaza and keep the receipt you can park free for 3 hours but they close at 9pm. I think it's around 7 or 8 dollars an hour after the free 3.

Also there are quite a few paid parking lots scattered around. Google Earth will give you a good idea, plug in an address like 575 5th Avenue to get a view. Ace Parking seems to have most of the lots.

There is street parking, but it may be difficult to get a spot on Saturday night. When we go downtown at night, we just choose a lot and be done with it.

We actually found street parking last month in the Gaslamp only 2 blocks away. Although that was on a Wed. evening not on a weekend.

Personally I would park at the trolley and trolley it downtown it takes 5 minutes, parking is free and you don't run the risk of not finding a spot.
