My high school class will be celebrating our 70 th birthday together in San Antonio this October. We have our hotel and dinner reservations set. I would like recommendations for shopping unique to San Antonio. We have Market Square on the agenda but would love to know about boutique shopping as well.

For a truly authentic experience, go to Paris Hatters on Broadway St. It is a very old seller of Western/cowboy hats. There are photos of a variety of semi-famous people who have shopped there, but mainly it feels old and authentic.

I was a tagalong to a conference in Austin last year with my DH. We stayed at the Van Zandt (a Kimpton!) during its first week of soft opening.

Spent the better part of one day on South Congress (SoCo?) having walked from the hotel.

From my notes for shopping opportunities, all co-located in one block:

Uncommon Objects - vintage and antiques, a mother load of stuff creatively staged and curated
Allen's Boots - western clothing and boots
Maya - indie designers
Yard Dog - funky gallery
Teseros Trading Co - huge collection of global folk art and craft

I had lunch at a place named Perla's Seafood & Oyster Bar b/c even in Texas I apparently couldn't give a pass to oysters. Excellent po' boy. There were many many interesting looking restaurants and food trucks (& small RVs that looked liked permanent encampments).
