Thank you for your suggestions.
I also should have asked what area of the Riverwalk you'd recommend for a medium amount of restaurant/store activity. Don't want to be in an extremely busy part but don't want a dead area either.
How are the hotels in the mercado/mall area? Prettier to stay in the Riverwalk area, I suppose? Any favorite hotels at either area?

The mercado/mall area is not on the riverwalk and is adjacent to the part of downtown S.A. that is not very friendly, including the county jail complex. Don't venture west of the mercado/mall. All of the hotels on the river walk are really in the same place. Your choice depends more on your budget.
