Salt Lake City, Utah
We are traveling in June to Salt Lake City and wondering where the best place to stay would be. We are in our mid sixties and will be there from June 22-25. I would like to have a boutique type hotel closest to downtown maybe with a view! Also, what is there to do around the outer areas of Salt Lake? What about the lake itself?
Thank you!
Thank you!

We love staying in Kimpton hotels. If you do, join their free Loyalty club, InTouch for some nice perks. They have Senior rates, AAA rates and so,e great deals for in Touch members.

Consider going to a rehearsal of the Mormon Tabernacle choir. It really was amazing -

At the top of my To Do list is a visit to Sundance. I've been to other ski areas outside of town but I really want to see Sundance resort -

Boutique hotel=Hotel Monaco (kimpton hotel). But some of their rooms are small. The Little America is a great value and a very nice hotel but not a view and not down town proper. The Grand American is gorgeous and will have views but not necessarily in downtown proper either.
1. Organ rehearsal at the Tabernacle. Or choir rehearsal/performance is pretty awesome.
2. Antelop island/Great Salt Lake is ok. Not much to see to be honest.
3. The canyons are gorgeous but will be wet and maybe still snow even in June (most are not really hike able till July)
4. Go to Park City for a day--fun to browse the shops and eat a great meal
5. Museums in SLC--there is a decent art museum at the U. The Natural History Museum at the U is truly fascinating and has great info on all of the Native American peoples (present and past). Red Butte Gardens is a lovely arboretum.
6. Check out various ticket outlets for plays and performances--SLC is definitely a stopover place for lots of talent. The Concerts at Red Butte Gardens amphitheater are great.
7. City Creek Canyon is a nice place to walk and look around.
8. Cathedral of the Madeleine is lovely. You will be there too late to hear the choristers at mass--its worth going to hear them.
9. The copper mine is actually really cool and something unusual to visit.
Sundance is wayyyyyy over rated IMO. The Tree Room is a great restaurant. But you can get great restaurants in Park City with out the drive. If it were fall and the Alpine Loop was open, I would change my tune!!
10. Millcreek Canyon is lovely and has an awesome restaurant-Log Haven.

I think Stanton hit pretty much all thehighlights near downtown andpossible day trips. I would choose The Hotel Monaco and the restaurant Bambara on the ground floor is one of the best in SLC.
Definitly visit Park City (where I live) and the Utah Olympic Park. Its really excellent.
You must be coming for business?

Dayle can give you the low down on PC restaurants. I would recommend that you tour the High West Distillery in PC--pretty cool. And they have a good restaurant.
Really good restaurants in SLC that are close to downtown:
1. Ems
2. Pago
3. Fresco
4. Forage (but way over priced IMO)
5. Cafe Martine
6. BTG Wine Bar
7. Copper Onion
8. Bambaras
9. Frida Bistro
and if you want real Mexican food, then the Red Iguana is a must!!

This is a vacation, not business and we will travel to SLC from Bryce Canyon. We will be staying at Hotel Monaco, thanks to your suggestions! Where is Stanton? and what is there to do?

Um, StantonHyde is the poster who answered some of your questions .
I don't know Stanton well enough to say what there is to do at her house!
Things to do in Park City in the summer,
hike
bike (road and mountain)
golf
hot air balloons
fly fish
raft
paddle board and water ski
shop
spas
free outdoor concerts
Arts Festival (august)
ride the bobsleds on wheels at the Olympic Park on the real track
horseback ride
ride the lift up and have lunch on the mountain
If you want to visit Snowbird, ride the tram up to the top of Hidden Peak - 11,000 and enjoy the view. Hike down (steep 3,000 ft. down)
Wildflowers - Albion Basin at Alta in Little Cottonwood (same as Snowbird) peak season is mid-July to mid-Aug.
I think you can keep busy! Bring your camera.

PS - if you are coming as part of a vacation, I would highly recommend staying in Park City rather than Salt Lake.
The city is fun for sightseeing for a day or so, but Park City is all about vacation!
