Salon & Spa in Chicago

Me and a couple of girlfriends are looking to do a spa day(ie..facials, manicures & pedicures and massages) in Chicago and are looking for the best one. Don't really know where to begin on this one so any thoughts or ideas would help.

Thanks!

Hey Margie,
Im no expert on this, but Mario Truccoci on Michigan Ave. is supposed to be a very nice spa and salon.I believe its in the Bloomingdales building, 900 N. Michigan Ave.

Hope this helps!

Elizabeth Arden also has a spa on N. Mich. as does the 4 Seasons.

I would recommend against the Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa. We had a Spa Day there for the women in my department and the staff was extremely rude. The Peninsula has a beautiful spa. I usually go to Spa Space but it isn't very convenient to anything except the Northwest train station (and where I work).

I treated my bridal party and my husband treated his best man to services at spa space. They were nice and accomadating for the most part... it was friday evening and most of the girls kept talking about wanting to leave. The lady who did my mani and pedi, left me there holding my shoes while my fingernails dried... she left. My husband did say that it was one of the best massages he had ever had. But I won't ever go back.

So, it sounds like at a lot of spas it depends on who you get! I've had nothing but good service at Spa Space and once when I was there, a woman complained about her mani and the manager came out, comped her mani (she had only paid for a mini-mani), gave her a credit for a full mani, and a gift certificate. Good luck Margie - if you have a good experience, please post back and share, including names if possible!

I definitely recommend the Peninsula. Salon 1800 is also great for manis and pedis and is in a great Lincoln Park 'hood right off the brown/purple line train.

A wonderful new spa opened in Nordstrom's on Michigan Avenue. Great services in a serene environment.

Also recommend The Peninsula, Four Seasons, Kiva (Ritz-Carlton), Channings (on Oak St.), Tiffany Kim (on Superior St.). I don't recommend Mario Tricoci or Elizabeth Arden. The service has never been great and they are both a bit like cattle calls.

If money is no object, I believe the best is either Nordstrom's, Four Seasons, or Peninsula. It's wonderful to spend the day there and relax in beautiful surroundings. Usually, you can make use of the pool/heatlth clubs, too, at Peninsula and Four Seasons.

Good info. Do any of you know what product line(s) they use for facials in the spas at the Four Seasons, Nordstrom's or the Peninsula?
Thanks.

I have not had any treatments at Nordstrom's but did pick up a price list. Their prices are not too bad.

I've heard mixed reviews on their spa-I have been to the Truccoci on Mich. Ave. (in the Bloomies bldg.) and it was nice.
