Here are some suggestions although I live in Mpls. and haven't tried any (usually do this on vacation):
Downtown:
Premier Spa is located within Macy's and offers premier services, such as Hot ... pedicures, Marine wraps, Body Bronzer, back facials, and luxury spa packages. 700 Nicollet Mall
JuutSalaon Spahydrotherm massage, Juut spa facials, eye zone treatments, body wraps

Juut 651 Nicollet Mall. Also in Upton at Hennepin & Lake.
Edina/50th & France:
SpalonMontageThis place is popular. body polishes, rain massage, revitalizing baths, and a rebalancing sea foam experience. Plus facials, waxing, and men's care, among other treatments.

jbass - this question is for you (since you live there). I am trying to keep the cost low key and we are debating between 2 hotels (we have never stayed in either of these chains before - but what the heck). Super 8 on Wayzata Blvd, Golden Valley and the Wingate on Helena in Oakdale. Are those area in relative okay neighborhoods? is there a preference of one over the other. We are going to uptown Min. and to Stillwater. I know one is closer than the other but thats fine. We wanted to stay downtown but couldn't find a moderate priced hotel that got a good review. Plus the cost of parking. Unless you know of one?
thanks

Wingate Oakdale. I suspect this place is newer but the location is boring-just off I694; the world of franchises. Although if you are going to Stillwater often-much more convenient.
Super8-Golden Valley-not sure of the age of this one (although says recently renovated). I'd prefer this location; much closer to downtown Mpls.; Uptown; Wayzata-which has fun bars on Lake Minnetonka. A little less isolated.
Either location is fine. Downtown-not sure of your budget, but here are some recommendations.
Doubletree Guest Suites-11th&LaSalle-great location.
Best Western The Normandy Inn & Suites-405 S 8th St. Location good; has been around awhile so not sure of updating.
Any of the Marriott Residence Inns-downtown-ALL newer and locations are fine; a couple more on the periphery. (Depends what time of year and how much walking you want to do).
