SALISBURY HOTEL, NEW YORK CITY
just curious, Has anyone stayed at the Salisbury Hotel, West 57th Street, New York City? The Russian Tea Room used to be right across the street, (not anymore!) what is now in place of Russian Tea Room?
This hoetl is just down the street from Carnegie Hall, Tiffany's, etc. Opionions on this hotel? thanks!

My parents stay there often and it is like their home away from home.
PGA headquarters or something similar is in the Russian Tea Room now.
Carnegie Hall is across the street. Central Park is two blocks behind the hotel. Times Square is about a minute walk.
My parents stay in the same 2 bedroom on the top floor there. They love it and will not stay anywhere else.

I haven't stayed there myself, but based on reviews on tripadvisor.com here
http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Rev..._New_York.html
I have been recommending it fairly regularly here. The rooms are evidently fairly large, many have kitchenettes. The photos I've seen on the web suggest the decor is a bit 80's Hyatt but so what.
The other place in that neighborhood (west 58th) that's little known and less uniformly positively reviewed is the Wyndham. I discovered this place 10+ years ago and it was a bargain then with big rooms, but I think it hasn't been updated since and it was a bit threadbare then.
I can't remember what's replaced RTR.

We have stayed here twice the most recent in April. It is a great place to stay, close to everything including some good restaurants (Shelley's steaks is across the street, pizza two doors down, cafe's on the corner) and not a long way from the park and excellent shopping. The hotel is also very accommodating-we had ordered a room on Travelocity for a great rate and when we got there the hotel said that the rate was for two adults and we had two adults and two "young adult" children. After explaining the mixup to them they upgraded us to a suite at no charge. With two great experiences, we wouldn't stay anywhere else.

If you're staying in Midtown, then its worth it to walk to the Sheep Meadow in Central Park. I was there the other day and on a clear day, there's a really nice view of Midtown from the Northwest side of the Sheep Meadow.
As a hotel, the place seems nice. The rooms are larger than most, according to one website. And it's conveniently located near the F and N,R,Q,W Trains
