Pick another town! Stayed there 17 years ago and have never forgotten it! Dreary doesn't quite suffice.

I can't speak to those two, but I stayed at the Best Western Mid-America Inn in September and don't recomend it. It isn't very well maintained.

BTW: If you happen to like hamburgers, try a a sack of hamburgers from the Cozy Inn at 108 N 7th. The tiny burgers (about 30 to the pound) are prepared on a 80 year old grill that is only used to cook these burgers. The little restaurant is open 24 hours. It has 5 seats at the old counter and permanently smells like hamburger with onions. No cheese is allowed and it is a major error for someone to request it.

Dear Clark,
Salina is the stop along the way to bigger and better things ie Rushmore! We just need a bed for the night.

Keith, thanks for the tip.

Candlewood Suites & Holidayinn Express are decent choices. Comfort Inn has a discount for 50yrs&older.

Bottom rung, Super 8 is a bed and a deadbolt, a step up from Ramada and Travelodge

I travel across Kansas fairly often and I recommend just stopping when you are ready and get a Super8, Econolodge, Travelodge. It is a bed, cheap and you leave the next day.
