s.f.giants-baseball tickets

I am sorry if this request is appearing twice; I am new to the forum and am learning my way around. My husband and I with our two sons will be in S.F. in late Jule/early August. I have heard numerous positive reports on making reservations at the Cow Hollow Motor Inn and would like to know if other readers agree. Also would like to secure tickets to a Giants ball game in early Aug.and wondered how difficult this might be since I am looking into this now. Any input and/or suggestions regarding things to be sure to see or do to make this a special time would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome elorac!
You can bump up your original post
by replying to it-just type ttt
in the reply space and hit "post"
and that will move it back to the top-no need for multiple messages

As for the Giants tickets:
Look for single game ticket sales
On the Giants website in late Jan
-early Feb. Sign up now for their e-mail newsletter and that will help keep you posted. You won't have your pick of every seat in SBC, yet you'll find a good selection. BUY THEM EARLY!!!

Without spending a fortune,we like the View Reserved boxes-Section 302 offers a great view of McCovey Cove and the Bay Bridge.

Lower boxes 127-131 and 135 put you closer to the action and are
loads of fun and fans.

It will most likely be quite cold at night games-I typically take a backpack with sweatshirt, jacket, gloves and hat.

Also, when you purchase tickets at the
website, you can print them out then and there which saves a small fortune
in "fees".

Have Fun!

The only way you won't have a
problem with Giant tickets is if
you buy them EARLY-they sell out
every game!

Cow Hollow Motor Inn is in a nice part of the city. The Marina/Cow Hollow section. It is convenient to Chestnut Street and Union Street and the many restaurants and shops located there. It is also close to Crissy Field and the Bay with great walking trails that take you to Fort Point which is right under the Golden Gate Bridge.
The giants will be home from August 2-7. They will be playing Colorado for 3 games and Houston for 3 games. I would imagine that getting tickets would be fairly easy for those games.
I would call the giants ticket office and order in advance. Also the giants have a few thousand bleacher seats that they sell on the day of game. Usually three hours before game time. If you do stay at Cow Hollow Motor Inn, transportation via bus to SBC Park is real close.

Thank you for the speedy replies regarding lodging and baseball tickets. Great tip to sign up for the Giants' newsletter; will do so in the morning.

Even if it is a warm, sunny day, bring sweatshirts, etc to Giants game. We were there a couple of years ago over 7/4 weekend and nearly froze to death at game. Same goes for city in general - we thought coming from Boston, it would feel warm in Calif. in summer - but SF weqther is not like much of Calif. Have a great trip.

Hello - I was in San Francisco the last week of July in 2002. I agree with the previous posters - take a sweatshirt! Even with the sun shining the wind was more than enough to give you a chill.

I went to a Giants game while I was there, and also took a tour of Pac Bell Park (SBC Park now, I guess). The tour tickets were only $10 and the tour takes you into the pressbox, the owner's skybox, into both dugouts and onto the field. I thought the tour was extremely worthwhile and your family might enjoy it.

I think I purchased my tickets the day they went on sale via the internet and I had a tough time. Long waits, limited availability, etc. I ended up with seats high up in the left field corner. I also recommend buying your tickets early. Hope that helps!
