Ruby's Inn trail ride or Bryce Canyon ride??
Has anyone been on the horseback ride that Ruby's inn offers? It sounds interesting but it does not go into Bryce Canyon. I would love some information from someone who has been on it. Also, would it be better to take a trail ride that does go into Bryce Canyon? I thought since we would be hiking in there it might be interesting to see another place, but I have read on this board that you should take a ride into the canyon. Any and all information and help will be greatly appreciated!!

Husband and teenage daughter took Ruby's ride 2 or 3 years ago. Neither have any experience riding. Took Ruby's ride for a variety of scheduling reasons.
It was great. We had already done some walking among the hoodoos at Bryce, and this was entirely different. Winding paths thru rock formations and along old stream beds - got a little history of area, warnings about flash floods along stream beds. Guides were knowledgeable, helpful, and did not yack constantly with silliness but gave interesting info as appropriate.
Additional info - time listed is ride time, they were actually back almost 2 hours later than advertised. Horses do not leave from Ruby's - they put you in a van and take you to an undisclosed location (10 -15 minutes) and you get horses there. They had no complaints.

We did a horse ride at Ruby's and the horses were located in their Stables directly across the street from Ruby'y. It was a 1 1/2 hour ride along the rim and we arrived back almost to the minute. Nice *cowboys* though, personable and DDs thought very cute Very sweet when we tipped them and they posed for cute pictures too (one is framed in older DDs room)

Hi Maria,
Ruby's has to rides that I have done, 1 was a 1/2 day ride in Red Rock canyon. On this ride they transport the riders in a van to Red Rock, where the horses are already waiting. It was a very nice ride, very scenic.
The full day ride includes a sack lunch. They do trailer the riders and horses out to high prairie land and you ride up to the top of a mountain from there into aspens, then the pines. Sorry, I can't remember the name of the mountain. Just due to length this is a ride for more experienced riders. There are also a few spots at higher altitude where you should have confidence in your ability and your horse. It was a gorgeous day with incredible scenery. Cooler up high, lunch was a very typical sack lunch. Definitely need a wide brim hat, sunscreen, water bottle, maybe a wind breaker.
I have never done the Bryce Park ride into the canyon. I'm always hiking there.
Have fun!

I'll just offer a different view. My family of 4 took the Bryce Canyon trail ride (2 hour version) on a morning in August '04. Highlight of our LV/GC/Zion/Bryce trip. Kids LOVED it. The scenery is unbelievable and only the very beginning (as you descend into the canyon) is scary. As for seeing repeat scenery, we just chose to hike the previous day on different trails. It was wonderful to spend more time IN Bryce Canyon.
You may want to do a search on Ruby's trail rides here. I remember someone a year or so ago saying how disappointed they were with Ruby's ride as they didn't realize that they would only be riding to the rim of the canyon.
But others have positives for Ruby's so perhaps you can't lose with either.
