Route and time-LV and Sacrametno

I'm trying to make it from Las Vegas to Sacramento in the shortest time. I'm not sure whether to take Rt99 or IH5, and what kind of time I might make. I usually cruise at 5mph above the speed limit. Thanks to all and have a great summer!!

I was wondering if I should have included California in this message to get it to come up on a California search. Maybe this will do it.

I think I would stick with I-5. You won't have to slow down for the cities.

When I plugged in Las Vegas to Sacramento on my Microsoft Trips and Streets it came up with an hour less time on I-5. I put in a speed limit of 75 and came up with 8 hours 45 minutes driving time.

BTW, I knew this was California.

Are you going in the summer? If so, it is a dreadful drive and will take at least 10 hours if you stop for anything.

Do you HAVE to drive? Southwest has very good fares from Sacramento to Vegas and you could be there in an hour+ for less money than driving . . .

Just know that in CA the CA Hiway Patrol has a "zero tolerence" for speeders. Believe me I know, one of my grandsons just got a ticket the other night and have known several people these last months that have also been cited. FYI, for what it is worth.

Oh - and the CHP has begun a series of zero-tolerance sweeps all along I-5. Even 1 mile over the limit is getting tickets. One day last week they issued over 1000 tickets along I-5.

That one was announced ahead of time but all the future ones will be un-announced.

I was posting at the same time as LoveItaly - but it just goes to prove it isn't an "urban myth". They are REALLY cracking down . . . . .
