Romantic Weekend in NYC
Hello everyone!
My husband and I are traveling to New York for the first time together in May for a 4 day weekend. We're mid-late 20s, and looking for some romantic ways to spend our time in the city! I've yet to book hotels yet, so any suggestions on that would be great as well - at the moment I have no idea what area to even look in!
Thanks!

wow that's a really long thread! thanks for the link - I'll definitely go through it.
I'd say our budget is from $200-$250. My husband is very budget-minded and cheaper is always better - but only to a certain degree. I stayed at the Millenium Hilton last year with some friends and I thought that was a nice place, but I don't remember how much it cost.

You should also look consider priceline. Check niddingfortravel for more information. You could get a good 4* at less than your budget.
Also check affinia.com special offers. Some times they have some good deals with some nice perks for a special weekend.

With that budget you might go for a Priceline 4* - if available much nicer that what $200 will get you midtown.
Also - you may consider checking out the upper west side or downtown/financial district.
You don;t say which weekend you're coming - but I checked a cute place on the upper west side and they're sold out lots of weekend days already. so I would move quickly.

Staying downtown in the financial district on a weekend as you did with your friend often gets you a great price since those hotels skew to business people. If you don't mind doing that, check not only the Mill. Hilton but also the Ritz Carlton Battery Park. Would be a nice splurge. quikbook.com is always a good place to check for prices as is travelzoo.com
You should book a hotel right away or you won't find a room. If you don't find the perfect thing, at least book something cancellable so you have some time to look around.
The length of that post is more about responses at the end. This was someone who was coming to propose marrage to his girlfriend and there are lots of ideas on romantic places. There are also plenty of other previous posts on romance in NYC is you do a search.

we booked our stay at the Affinia Manhattan - any comments about this one? We were looking on tripadvisor and started with the best rated list and just worked our way down until we found one that had availability and in our price range - affinia manhattan was #11. I'm a little worried about the area - since I read that it can be noisy.
I've been reading a lot about ESB vs. Top of the Rock - which would you guys recommend? The ESB seems very romantic but time consuming as well..
