Romantic Place in the Adirondacks or Catskills

I am searching for a romantic lodge, inn or hotel in the Adirondacks or Catskills for a short getaway this winter. My budget would be 350-400/night or less. Can anyone suggest such a place and why do you recommend it? Thanks.

Investigate Mirror Lake Inn in Lake Placid, NY. I have not stayed there myself (it was booked the time I was in town), but know people who have, including for honeymoons. I did have breakfast there once, & it was elegant and decadent - not run-of-the-mill breakfast food.

Plus, you are in Lake Placid, so a cute town with lots of options for things to do in the winter.

I thought Mirror Lake was alright - not amazing. I would recommend Big Moose Inn near Old Forge - we love it there. Also Friends Lake Inn is nice - both have websites and at both the meals are amazing. If I had to pick between the two, I would pick Big Moose.

Just realized you wrote no more than 400 per night. The Point is more like 1000-1200. Forget it.
