Lake Placid Lodge vs. Mirror Lake Inn

Can anyone compare the Lake Placid Lodge and the Mirror Lake Inn? The Lake Placid Lodge is significantly more expensive than the Mirror Lake Inn -- is it worth the difference? Thanks in advance.

They are both very, very nice. The Lake Placid Lodge is on the shores of Lake Placid (the lake), and about a 5 minute drive outside the village of Lake Placid. The Mirror Lake Inn is right in the village of Lake Placid on the shores of Mirror Lake (the lake in the village). You can't go wrong at either place.

Lake Placid Lodge is more like one of the old Adirondack great camps. It oozes "Adirondack character." If you are going in the summer, it would be very nice to be there. The Mirror Lake Inn is also very lodge-like inside ... there is also a separate cottage and white house across the street from the main building of the Inn, right on the shore.
