Romantic Anniversary Trip - Driving Distance from Westchester NY?

My husband and I will be celebrating an special anniversary at the end of this month. We're looking for a romantic getaway within driving distance of Westchester NY (1 hour north of NYC). Can only get away for 1 or 2 nights at most
. Would love to find a beautiful inn/small hotel with great food there or nearby. A spa would be great. Need a get away from the little ones. Have been to the Mayflower, the Castle on the Hudson and The Norwich. All wonderful, but looking for something different. Any suggestions?

Stowe Vermont, Stay at the Trapp Family inn & get the dinner plan with your stay, It includes an all inclusive breakfast, high-tea and a fabulous dinner. It's on the outskirts of a national forest, gorgeous scenery, no need to drive anywhere, all is right there. The rooms are spectacular, the bar has live-soft music and the service is first-class. Request a room on the 2nd or 3rd floor, even though the rooms on the 1st floor are nice, the upper floors have easy access to the common areas, and balconies in each room for the view. This is staying in the main Lodge, not the other properties the VonTrapps have there.

There are tons of places. I am on my way to work and don't have time for specifics - you'll get lots of ideas here -- but in the meantime -- here are some previous threads seeking similar ideas:

How about Mohonk Mountain House in New Paltz? that's only about an hour and a bit from Westchester (it's about 50 miles from northern westchester)--it's definitely a destination location--really gorgeous views. Or how about a bit furthur north, and to the Berkshires--Lenox, Mass area?

also, you could try the Beekman Arms/Delameter Hotel in Rhinebeck, or the Old Drovers Inn in Dover Plains--both are in Dutchess County, Rhinebeck is a great place to spend a weekend. Another idea is Litchfield County, CT--there's two places I recall near Lake Waramung (sp?) -- I think in New Preston--one is the Hopkins Inn, the other is the Boulders. It's a very nice area.
