Romance AND Native American history?

Can anyone suggest a good destination in the American West I could go with my husband, who is a nut for Native American history, especially Sioux nation, and where there are also accommodations that are somewhat upscale, service-oriented, and not full of kids? And maybe even a little romantic? We also need access to good fitness/pool/gym, good food, facilities and possibly horseback riding. We don't want to rough it but we want to be casual - no dressing up for dinner. We have no idea if it's possible to combine all these criteria into one vacation. I went to ranchweb.com's search engine, but it provided over 150 hotel names, so I could use some help knowing where to begin looking.

I have no idea but I'm topping because I'd like to read the answer. Good Luck.

The Santa Fe/Taos area fills all of your criteria but the Sioux part. That area is populated by the Pueblo, though the Navajo reservation is not too (comparatively) far away.

Jackson Lake Lodge, or Jenny Lake Lodge, Grand Teton National Forest.

I'm sorry...to be a little less cryptic. Jenny Lake Lodge is an older crowd...Jackson Lake Lodge is a bit more family oriented. Jenny is more elegant. In the GTNF they have a wonderful ranger program, much centered around the native American culture. There is a museum (not huge, but impressive) on site. I fondly recall being taught the aerodynamics of a teepee (it's a tilted cone)...we actually built one>
