No. But the area's ok. Hope that helps a little if you're worried about safety.

From a previous post:

Message: DO NOT STAY THERE. I had some friends who stayed there before because it looked decent on the website; it turned out to be a disgusting dive.
There was a drunk guy who they called the doorman who was always on the step. I went to visit them and the quarters were hideous. They were so afraid of the place they left after only one night.

Be advised that if the price is too good to be true in NYC, then it is. If you are willing to pay a bit more but want to stay in the same area, there is a quality inn or something nearby on b-way and 96th street.

I'm guessing that the previous poster simply forgot to capitalize - the name would be Quality Inn (rather than that title being a description).

it's funny that no one seems to have heard of the place. or anyone who has stayed there. well, save for one guy, anyway. well, if you ask me, go ahead and stay there - it's not like you'll be in your room all day if you're on holiday in new york. and it's not like you can find any other affordable place to stay in the city this late in the year. if it turns out bad, well, chalk it up to good experience. at least you didn't waste too much money!

HI:
I do not know any thing about this place but it does not look very nice to me. The website says that a suite of private rooms share a kitchen and a bathroom which leads me to believe that htis used to be an apartment house and the apartments were converted to rooms for rent. A transient hotel
The location is pretty far from everything and you will have use public transportation or cabs to find anything. Nothing is within walking distance. Good luck!

I have stayed there and never again. While it was cheap, I felt safe (bars on the window that overlooked the alley) and it was quiet, it was a bit decrepit. The tiles in the front hall were chipped and dirty, the fellow at the front desk had to deliver toilet paper to our room, and when we entered the lobby with suitcases, the guys who were hanging out looked at us like they wondered why we were there. Tiny room with nowhere to sit but the bed. My sister-in-law, a nurse who lives in the city, says it is a former AIDs hotel.

There are several hotels in Manhattan in good locations that offer roms with shared baths. Two that have been mentioned favorably in this forum on repeated occasions are Pickwick Arms and the Murray Hill Inn. It's quite conceivable that you could get a room in one of these for $80-85 per night - the extra $100 spent over a seven day period would be well worth the money. I've stayed in some real fleabags for a single night and found it bearable but multiple nights in such a dive can be depressing.

most, if not all, affordable places are fully booked during the year end period. you'll be lucky if you find anything else. if you cannot afford anything else other than riverside inn, then live with it, dinginess and all. someone did say he felt safe. so maybe that does say something about the place after all.
