Rhode Island to Boston Itenirary

Hello. my wife has a meeting in the Omni Hotel in Providence from Monday and Tuesday in September and then we are have some free time. So from Wednesday to Sunday, can someone suggest how we can see cape cod and martha's vineyard on the way to Boston. We want to spend 3 nights in Boston staying at the Fairmont Copley before flying back to Canada. Are we trying to see too much in a small window of time? For transportation, we are wide open and have not made arrangements.

Check the fast ferry from Quanset Point, RI to the Vineyard for a day trip, but I would head for Woods Hole and take the ferry from there. You can see quite a bit of the Vineyard on the bus that tours in season, but I'm not sure it is as flexible in September, taking a car over and back is expensive and sometimes difficult to get reservations.

You could stay on the Cape for a couple of nights before heading to Boston. My choice would be in the Chatham to Providence area.

I think you are too far north to take Quanset ferry. New Bedford is the closest place to pick up a ferry to Martha's Vineyard.

Thanks you both.

I take it you are suggesting we go to the Cape from Providence and then head out to Boston. Wouls I need a car to go around?

hmmm - I assumed you had a car to get to New Bedford. There are flights from TF Green to MV and then from MV to Boston. It might be a bit pricey.

There is also bus service from Prov to New Bedford that seems to take you to the ferry terminal.

And yes, I was suggesting Prov - MV - Boston.

If you want to go from Prov to Boston, there is commuter rail service that will take you there quickly and relatively inexpensively.

Once in Boston, you could take the ferry to Provincetown. Or a flight to MV.
