Restaurants on Coronado other than hotels...

Looking for a place for breakfast before setting out for the day and also, a nice restaurant for a birthday dinner. We won't have a car and will be staying at the Del but have no objections to walking!

Thanks...

Hi Doncin-
we like Tent City for breakfast. Quick, easy walk from the Del.

http://www.tentcityrestaurant.com/

You have the option of taking the ferry, trolley or cab from the island to Gaslamp /Downtown area. There are numerous fabulous restaurants to choose from.

What type of experience are you looking for?

1500 Ocean at the Del is not too shabby, either. If you are at the Del on Sunday- brunch is fabulous.

Hi Socaloc,

Thank you for the info, we will try Tent City.

We are celebrating our birthdays and have never been to San Diego..I'm just not crazy about really formal restaurants. We like seafood and my husband loves a great steak so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Good morning Doncin,
If you are coming anytime soon- I gladly report sunshine has finally arrived along the coast. amen.

Let me put your mind to rest a bit about San Diego. While it has many attractions with great hotels and food experiences - it's down to earth, casual lifestyle is evident. Oh sure, there's a few 'pretentious characters' here and there but they're considered entertainment. LOL

As for the Del- I don't consider it formal or stuffy. Pricey ok (someone has to pay for the historical preservation)

As for leaving the island- Gaslamp dinner-

Fun, good food and energy

We also like

But- you can do this in many cities

Numerous rave reviews for here- I have yet to make it.

Other places we like you need a car or I wouldn't do it for a celebration.

Hopefully, you'll get a few more responses with their personal experiences.

And not to push 1500 Ocean--- loved it.

Thank you again! We are coming out in August so hopefully your sunshine will stay!!

I really appreciate your help and Croce looks like something we would enjoy....It's good to know that it's a casual atmosphere. Are there dress codes? Just want to make sure we bring the proper attire....

Thanks and we will probably check out 1500 Ocean!

Hi Doncin - smart/resort casual. No jackets, ties etc. required. Look & feel nice but don't over do it unless you want to stand out.

I'll hold the sunshine until you get here!

For a special occasion dinner within walking distance of the Hotel Del I would recommend the Coronado Boathouse Restaurant.

For casual meals, The Rhinoceros Cafe and Miguel's @ the El Cordova Hotel are both very good. ***kim***
