Restaurants in/near Wailea

Will be Wailea on Maui soon and am looking for some restaurant recommendations in Wailea or within 15 minutes drive or so for a couple without kids. Interested in all kinds of food -- nice atmosphere, moderate to a little more expensive. Thanks for any tips.

In the Maui Prince (which is right down the road from Wailea) is an excellent Japanese restaurant and a great "regular" restaurant that also serves great seafood.

If you like fish, always keep your eye out for Opakapaka (not sure if the spelling is right). It is a gray snapper, I believe, and is not always available.

When we were there in June, Joe's Bar and Grill was giving 50% off every entree ordered by 6:30. Even without the discount, place was very good. Also, Sea Watch was excellent. In the Wailea shopping center are Longhi's and Tommy Bahama's. In Kihei are Sensei, Jameson's and Sarrento's. Nick's Fish Market in the Kea Lani is good as well as Mama's Fish House in Paia (go there for lunch.) Many more - great variety. Enjoy.

One of our "must visits" when we go to Maui is the restaurant at the Wailea golf course (for all the times we've gone there, I can't remember the name). The food is great and we go even when we are not golfing, but even better are the views over the ocean -- just breathtaking. Get a table on their wide lanai so that you can eat outdoors! We're headed there over Labor Day weekend and will have more than one meal there for sure!

Drive into Kihei if you are looking for more reasonably priced meals. It is less than 15 minutes from Wailea. We had better italian food at Antonio's than we did at the Four Season's. We also had great Thai food at another restauarant. Lunch at Maui Taco. Pick up Maui Revealed, you can't go wrong with their "ONO" recommendations.

My husband I just returned from maui last week. We stayed in Wailea and had some wonderful meals.
My top choice, best restaurant that I have ever eaten in is, Nick's. It is located in the Fairmont Kea Lani hotel. The best seafood and service ever.
2nd would be Ferraros (italian) in the Four Seasons.
3rd - Capische (italian/seafood) located at the Diamon resort
4th - Longhis
If you can make it out of Wailea, Mama's Fish Market was delicous. It is at the bottom of the road to Hana and your way there.
Have fun!

I second Nick's in the Kea Lani. The service was excellent, the food was excellent (awesome opakapaka) and the atmosphere was perfect.

But be sure to make reservations everywhere you go. Or you may have to wait for a good table.

have fun!!!!!!

The Sea Watch is the restaurant on the golf course Burta is referring to. I second that one- it is by the same companyt that owns "The Beach House" in Kauai whic is also excellent.

I disagree with the above poster on Joe's. The beer selection was weak, but the food was below average, with a limited menu.

In Wailea
1)Longhi's
2) SeaWatch
3) Cheeseburgers
4) Ferraro's(average non-NY Italian)

IMO, Lahaina had the best choices of restaurants and would recommend going up there to eat.
