Restaurant Week - NYC

Restaurant week will be held from June 24 to June 28. A price fixed three course meal will cost $20.02 and some of the finest restaurants in the city participate. A listing of participating restaurants is in today's (May 29) NY Times. Reservations are recommended for the better known restaurants listed.

An additional note: the $20.02 is for lunch; dinners are $30.02. Some restaurants are only participating for lunch, some for dinner, some for both.

Anyone know if I can get this list of participating restaurants online instead of going out and getting a newpaper?
Thanks!

It's a pretty good deal but many of the better restaurants offer a very limited menu at this price.

Steph: The website doesn't mention dinner, where did you get that info. Thanks.

Frank - When I first was looking into this, I must have been accessing old info (I think it was at citysearch.com).
I just looked at the latest info and it says Summer Restaurant Week is for lunch only - sorry for the misinformation.

The $30 dinner deal was a promotion that ran shortly after 9/11 in order to lure people back into NYC. I think it's expired by now.

They did the same thing in DC last fall, and although it was initially popular, people got really fed up because the menus were extremely limited, and I heard a lot of complaints that the staff badly treated customers who were participating. I ended up cancelling my reservations after all of the complaints I heard from friends.

Along these same lines, Gotham Bar and Grill, one of my favorites, usually participates in these promotions. But they do the same thing year round. They always have a $20.02 lunch special with three choices each in three courses -- and it is a wonderful and fantastic bargain. Twenty-one club also always has a $21. lunch special -- but you might have to ask for the special menu. In neither of these restaurants have I ever been treated rudely or shabbily because I was doing the "cheap" menu.
