Restaurant recommendations - Theatre District

I'd appreciate any recommendations for your favorite place to get pizza and for (mid-priced) Italian restaurants in the Theatre District or nearby.

John's is a great pizza place. But what do you consider "mid-priced"? There are a lot of options depending on what you want to pay.

Here's a thread titled "Italian near the Theatre District" from Chowhound with a lot of suggestions:

In the right column of that link there's a list of several other slightly more general threads about Theater District dining options.

Agree we need to know what you conider mid priced. And what theater - can be from 42nd St up to low 50s. Assume you are looking fo r pre-theater dinner - not after theater.

Well, depending on how many are in your party and where you're going, Tony's di Napoli is a mid-priced Italian restaurant that serves family-style portions (i.e., big to be shared). It's a better choice than the similarly priced Carmine's because it takes reservations. Carmine's is just ok (the one on the Upper West Side is actually better than ok for me, but it also has detractors), and you can't make a reservation, so you can end up waiting hours for a table, which is just not worth it.
