Restaurants near theatres

Please suggest restaurants near these show theatres: The Phantom of the Opera (Wed), Wicked (Fri) and Mary Poppins (Sat). All performances are at 8 p.m. Wed and Fri will be 2 adults, 2 kids ages 9 and 13; Saturday will be 5 adults, 4 kids ages 3 - 13.. No one in my family is a real "foodie"...just good American fare with family friendly prices will do just fine for us.

Where are you staying? Sometimes it's easier/better to eat closer than the hotel than in the theatre district - and that often helps with "family friendly prices" too.

There are a LOT of threads here with pre-theatre suggestions.

Phantom @ 247 west 44th st. and Mary P @ 214 west 42 st. are not that far from each other so same restaurants work for both really. To see distances go to maps.google.com You can also do some of your own research by plotting the theater on Google maps and then using their "search nearby" for restaurants with linked reviews. I urge you to make reservations wherever possible to avoid long waits. Opentable.com is a booking site for most but not all. Eating at 6 should get you to the theater on time. Tell your server when you sit down you're going to a show.

Near Phantom & Mary Poppins
Basilica (Italian)
John's Pizzeria (but leave plenty of time b/c they don't take reservations)
Carmine's & Tony's di Napoli-both Italians serving huge family style portions meant to be shared
Juniors (like a deli with basic American but known for their cheesecake)
Virgil's BBQ

On restaurant row (46th st. between 8th & 9th ave.)
Joe Allen (American)
House of Brews (burgers etc.)
Hourglass Tavern (American)
Becco (Italian)

Near Wicked @ 222 west 51 st.
Ellen's Stardust Diner (fun diner with so so food and singing waitstaff)
Ruby Foo's (Asian)
Emmett O'Lunney's Irish Pub
Angelo's Pizza next to the Ed Sullivan theater
Maria Pia Italian

Look for addresses and details on menupages.com

I happened to notice somewhere that the Oldcastle pub around the corner from your hotel also serves a good breakfast. http://www.menupages.com/restaurants...ub-restaurant/
Lou's Cafe is also good for b/f. http://www.menupages.com/restaurants/lous-cafe/
