Restaurant recommendations near theatre district in Boston

Can someone please recommend a nice restaurant in or near the theatre district in Boston? We will have a car and would like to park close to the theatre and walk.

Jacob Wirth's, the second oldest restaurant in the city, and IN the theater district. They have a parking lot right next to the it, and they give a discount on parking. Food is German, home brewed beers, and lately they've become more upscale. No more sawdust on the floor! They regularly donate dine/theater packages to our local PBS auction. Very popular before theater. They have a webpage:

I hope you try it. It's one of our favorites.

For something a little different, try Jae's on Stuart Street. Definitely walking distance to the theatre. It serves Thai/asian food.

Hard to imagine two excellent restaurants that are more at the extremes of Boston dining than Jake Wirth's and Aujourdhui. Let me suggest something in between - the wonderfully elegant Bristol Lounge at the 4 Seasons Hotel. I assume it's the same kitchen as Aujourdhui, but a simpler menu and at less $. Also a nice place to enjoy an after-theater cigar, if you're into that sort of thing (I am).

I love the Bristol Lounge, and would also suggest sharing dishes at Maggiano's and the 57 at the Radison Hotel. Whatever main dish you order is great for two and the sides - likewise...have fun------L

Is this the same Jacob Wirth's that once was in Harvard Square?

Wirth's has been at its current location on Stuart for as long as I can remember, which is longer than I care to dwell on. Are you thinking of the late lamented Wursthaus in Harvard Square?

Also, near Maggiano's Little Italy, is Fleming's Steakhouse, Legal Seafood, and McCormick & Schmidt. You could also try practically any restaurant in Chinatown -- as they are all only a couple of blocks from the theatres.

Aujourdhui is a night out in itself. Although fantastic, not a pre/post theatre stop, imho. I like the idea of the more casual 4Seasons restaurant! Legal Seafood is also a popular theatre partner. Have fun!

Gotta go to Jakes, just so you can say you went to Jakes. Also, it's neat to go to a restaurant where the waiters are older than the establishment.

gc, the traditional waiters at Jakes have been largely replaced over the last several years by the same kids you see pretty much everywhere else except at the top-line restaurants. Much as I might like to disparage them, I won't - they're at least trying to make an honest living, which is more than many would do. But I do miss the originals.

Pho Pasteur! No I'm NOT talking about the regular Pho that you go to, it's the upscale version of Pho Pasteur. It's on Stewart St. and you must try their criscy-skin salmon!
