Restaurant near Charlotte Bobcats Arena?

Hi all-- my 10 year old daughter and I are going to a concert at the Charlotte Bobcats Arena later this month, and I'm looking for a restaurant near the arena that's within safe walking distance for a woman and child around 5 or 6PM. I haven't spent much time in Charlotte, so I have no idea how walkable that area is. I've heard good things about Fuel Pizza, and I see that there are a couple of them near the arena-- would that be a safe walk, or is there someplace else that you'd recommend? No fast food, please-- my daughter's a relatively adventurous eater. Thanks in advance!

Highly recommend Mert's Heart and Soul. It's only a couple of blocks away and in a safe area. The food is fantastic - Low country and Gullah Food (The Gullah are African Americans who live in the Low Country region of South Carolina and Georgia. The Gullah are known for preserving more of their linguistic and cultural heritage than any other African American community in the United States.)The collard greens are out of this world!

Mmm... I looked at their menu online, and it sounds really good. Would you say it's a safe walk to the arena from there? I see that there is an arena parking lot right nearby, so I would imagine there will be many people heading in the same direction.

Thanks!

Uptown Charlotte is very safe - the only thing to be careful of at that time is watching for rush hour traffic as you cross the street. Even after the concert, the streets are very safe and walkable and there will be lots of other people around.

Pass on Fuel - it is sort of fast foodish. If she likes Pizza, Brixx is a much better choice and just as close.

We're not from Charlotte, but I never felt unsafe in the area around the arena at all (at any time). In fact we even remarked at how friendly the "bums" were!

All good choices. Personally I like Fuels' pizza better , Brixx for sandwiches & such. Cosmos does (I'm guessing they still do) 2 for 1 tapas early evening Mon.- Thurs. also. Were you fortunate enough to get Hannah Montana tix ?

If you all like seafood, Levechicca's is excellent. It is on 6th street, between College & Brevard, about a block from the arena.

Good guess, Brutforce, although I'm not sure "fortunate" is the word I'd use. My daughter will be thrilled, though (shh... it's a surprise...).

Thanks again for all the suggestions-- I don't think we'll go hungry!

I'm still waiting for some desperate scalper to give some away...If that doesn't work, she'll be getting the DVD for XMas.
