Restaurant-Amsterdam Theatre New York

Does anyone have a recommendation for an inexpensive restaurant near the Amsterdam Theatre in New York?

Do you mean the NEW Amsterdam theater at 214 West 42nd Street where Mary Poppins is playing? Will you have kids with you? John's pizzeria is not far (44th st) and very good. Dallas BBQ is very close and gets great reviews.

Just try to avoid Applebees and the Olive Garden.

Thanks mclaurie. We have tickets to Mary Poppins - 4 women (all ages but all young at heart). Some are on a strict budget so this will suit us just fine. I agree - avoid Applebees and Olive Garden. They would have to drag me in kicking and screaming. We are staying at the Beekman Towers (49th and First). Will be visiting Greenwich Village, Soho and Little Italy. If you have any recommendations for inexpensive restaurants I'd love to hear from you.

2 good ideas for a brunch in the village are Garage or Jules Bistro. Both are very inexpensive (for brunch) and have live music for brunch. Garage is in the west village (popular area not far from Washington Square park) and is relatively large. Jules is east village, small and French.

I also like La Lanterna in the village for dinner. Also has music and relatively inexpensive.

Nearer your hotel, La Mangeoire and La Mediterannee are French with good prix fixe dinners.

In Little Italy, go to Lombardi's for pizza.

When are you going? I would like to hear back on what you thought of the play!

Thanks mclaurie for all the recommendations - I will certainly research them. We are arriving this Thursday, March 29 and have tickets to Mary Poppins for the evening performance.

I will post my thoughts regarding the play after the show.
