Requesting info about location of Hertz rental counter at airport in Kauai
I'm renting a car from Hertz at LIH in Kauai. Someone told me not to take the shuttle from the terminal to the rental counter -- that it's an easy walk instead. I've looked at a diagram of the airport and where the Hertz counter is, but it's hard to get a feel for the distance and difficulty of walking to the counter.
( I am in good condition and could easily walk a reasonable distance.)
Anyone had experience with it? TY

What perk did this someone offer as a reason to walk to the counter rather then the available shuttle? Of all the amazing hikes on island, a hike to a car rental car would be on the bottom of my list.

I don't know but if you aren't a Gold member, join. I had the longest wait of my life at the Kauai when I rented from one of the companies I wasn't a member of. It seemed like the entire planeload of people were in that line. It wasn't Hertz (maybe Dollar) but lines can be VERY long so join the membership club and skip to the short line.

This why we split up after landing. One of us sprints to the rental car counter, first in line for the car, swings back around to pick up the other, who has picked up the luggage in the meantime.

I am for my favorite three and concentrate on one to accumulate points. I was kicking myself for not joining the other before the trip. This was some years ago. I've never made that mistake again.

Yes, we split up as well. I gather all of our luggage, and Cheryl goes to get the rental car from Hertz, which takes only minutes as she's Gold.
Taking the shuttle to the rental car counter (all the car rentals are off the airport, but not far away) is certainly MUCH faster than walking. I just can't figure out what the person to advised you was thinking about walking rather than taking the shuttle.

TY, Kathie. As I noted, looking at a map of the airport and where the rentals are doesn't give you a feel for the distance or difficulty. BTW, we'll probably be doing carry-on so won't need to gather luggage.

After a 5 hr plane ride, I haul my sore, sorry okole across the parking lot to the rental areas. About a brisk 5-10 min walk.
If you do this, maybe check the kiosks right there at the terminal before trekking over because once I walked all the way over and the person said I should have checked in at the Term.
124 more days until I return to the #ellhole.
