Rental on Kauai's Anini Beach- help!

We are deciding between a place called Coconut Hut and another called Anini Beach Victorian. Here's the link:
http://www.vrbo.com/108205.
Has anyone stayed here? We want it to be super quiet.
Also, does anyone know about the consctruction going on up on the cliff?
We are going in December. Thanks!

We stayed at a different vrbo at the end of Anini Road last July. We also chose this location because we wanted something very quiet and away from everything. We were quite surprised at the amount of traffic up and down this road. On weekends, the beaches are taken over by locals (it is their home after all). Although we love Anini and enjoyed our rental, we would choose differently next time. Good luck, Harry

All of our island beaches get weekend crowds -- residents and visitors alike.

As for Anini Road having traffic, a few cars an hour is normal. And the further you get down the road -- away from the highway -- the less the traffic will be. Most folks are heading for the beach park or the polo fields.

Maybe July is worse than other months but it sure seemed like more than a few cars per hour. There were also three weddings on the beach in front of our rental and two or three catered beachfront dinners.
We stayed here

We usually stay here

but it was booked last July.
Let me know if there is anything else, Harry

We just got back from staying on Anini. You will love it. If you are going when schools are out, everywhere will be more crowded. But Anini is so quiet, that a busy day on Anini is nothing. We stayed at a house we fell in love with, and will only stay there from now on. It's through www.serenity-rentals.com. It's the "Nekea Front House." Sounds like the size you need, and the Lanai is huge, with a perfect view, and the house has such a wonderful island feel. We didn't want to leave!!! The other great thing about Anini Beach, is that it's protected, by a reef way out there, so when it's really rough, as it gets in the north shore, especially that time of year, the water on Anini is flat like a swimming pool. We were driving there, waves crashing all over the place, turned a couple of corners, and..... glass. The construction is way up high, and you can't hear anything to worry about. One of the pictures on their web site is from the view from the Nekea Back house. This is the forward house... and the other view pictures of the lanai are correct. Your own grassy yard... back and front... and cross a sandy lane to your beach. This house is away from the Anini park, and Polo field. We looooooooooved it!!!!!

what is this big deal about the rosters? one of my greatest joys these day, while not in Hawaii/Kauai, is to hear a rooster. before, all a person would think of would be a farm, or something, but, now, all the sound of a roster reminds me of is Kauai. I love them. they sound like heaven to me. it is part of Kauai. if the rosters bother people, so will all of the other bird noises that I love. FYI, get a convertable. walk down all the way on both sides of the beach. enjoy that lanai. you will not want to leave. how many in your party?

Another vote for staying on Anini Rd. (altho we didn't stay at the places you listed) Just returned yesterday from a stay there. Loved the location! But I have to be honest...the roosters love to welcome the morning there. It didn't bother me. It was nature's reminder that it was time to take a morning stroll on the beach (which was right across the road). Ah! So nice!
