Renewing vows in Vegas (30 yrs!!) Need some help.

Hi. I've used this forum so many times to help me plan vacations. Always great info. Here's my problem that I'm hoping some of you can help me with. The hubby & I are going to be celebrating 30 years of (mostly) marital bliss the end of May. For some reason, this morning around 4 am I found myself wide awake with the idea of going to Vegas to renew our vows on our anniversary. How wonderfully tacky & fun that would be!! I've been reading all the posts about which hotels to stay at & which to avoid. Also, the different site links have been very helpful but I haven't found an answer to where to go to get re-married. Preferably by an Elvis impersonator. (No, I'm not drunk or drugged! You've got to admit, it would definitely bring a smile to you face every time you thought about it.) So, can anyone out there help me or is this too off the wall? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

What a great fun idea! I think you should get your entire family involved and make it a big deal!

I'm going to check for you and see which chapel has Elvis at the ceremony. I think it is a fun idea! My friends parents just did the same thing. She lives here, but her parents are from VA and she wanted to re-new her vows at the "drive-thru". She also wanted something fun and silly and they had a blast. I say after 30 years you can do whatever you please!! I wanted to mention something that is new that you might like. There is now a chapel on wheels that goes up and down the Strip while you get married. Tacky..yes, but unique and fun!!! It has no roof on it so you are completely out in the open, plenty of seats for guests, and it is all lit up on the frame of the trailer that hauls you around. I'll see if I can find info on that as well. Because if you got married in the evening in May it would be really nice outside!!!

hmmmm...I thought the vows you took the first time are supposed to last? Why not just call it a 2nd honeymoon?

Hey Syvia! Not to worry. Obviously the first vows did last. Just thought this would be, for us, a totally unique way of saying 'I'd marry you again'. Being able to laugh together is a great thing.

Oops. Also wanted to say thanks to vegasnative for any help she/he can give. There's got to be at least 1 Elvis that can marry us. It's Vegas!!

Ah! Vegasnative, you're great!! Thanks so much. Don't worry about looking for one that drives up & down the strip. Didn't really want to feel like I was hailing a cab in NY. Would rather go when the spirit moves us. Thanks again.

I was married in Vegas and researched all the chapel options, though didn't choose an Elvis officiant. After a lot of research, we found The Little Church of the West to be the best of the standalone chapels in terms of having good reviews by people who actually were married there, and we went there ourselves to inspect and meet the people that run the place.

I think they will let you bring in your own Elvis and the guy you want, if he's still out there, is named Jesse. I forget his last name but the folks at the chapel will know who he his. His last name might be Garon or Garin or something like that. He's a "young" Elvis and is not only talented but a really nice guy.

Good luck!

I love your idea and hope that you can post back a trip report this summer. My husband is a longtime Trekkie, and I would like to do something in that vein to renew our 25th in three years!
Including our two kids would be part of the fun. Good luck in your planning, J.

That's great JerseyGal, and I'd love to see your trip report too! Also, have you decided where you'll stay?

vegasnative~ I have looked into it and have the Star Trek site on my favorites list for about two years now!
I am practically rofl when I think about what I might wear. Long grecian gown/short mini dress with boots, big hoop earrings/one shouldered affair with vines straegically placed??.. and then there's the hair to consider, lol.
I could get through it with lots of intergalactic "beverages" and the thought that my dear Vulcan would be thrilled that I would participate in such a meaningful encounter... and we've already populated the galaxy and prospered, so the shields can be done way with, wink wink,..
I could go on, but it's too early and I need some excercise to justify amateur wine tasting later today!
