Renewing Vows for Silver Anniversary

Ok Fodor Friends Time to shine again with your wisdom & help.

I just mentioned to my dear Husband of 25 years (In May) that I thought it would be neat to renew our vows in Hawaii on one of the 4 islands while we are there for our trip.
I want my knowledgeable friends to help me find someplace that can help us with that on one of the following islands ahu, Kauai, Maui or Hawai'i. We plan to be on Oahu for 3 days (Actually going to be on this island on the day of our 25th anniversary), and then we go to Kauai for 3 nights, then off to Maui for 4 days then to the Big Island for 7 days.
Please share your ideas or recommendations of budget options, which include simply the basic, lei, a few photos & someone to preside over the vow renewal on one of these 4 islands.
Looking forward to hearing from you.

My DH and I did this a year and a half ago on the Big Island. For about $370 we renewed our vows with a minister at a beach house we had rented. Hubby had a Maile leaf lei and I had a lei and a Haku lei (head lei). The fee included leis for our guests... son, MIL, FIL, BIL and SIL. Minister made a rose petal heart we stood in while we renwed our vows. I had gone to a local farmers market and had gotten a few bunches of flowers. I used ribbon to make bouquets for myself, MIL and SIL. I also decorated two tiki torches with flowers to have an "alter". After the ceremony, everone threw rose petals on us. The minister also gave us a beautifully framed Hawaiian certificate of our vow renewal. Minister's name is Rev. Cheryl Pascual. She even travelled from the Kona side of the island to Kapoho for us.

I researched the internet for names and then contacted several.

In researching, I found it was less expensive if you do it in Honolulu. We did not have that option.

All of us still talk about the vow renewal ceremony and how romantic is was. My only disappointment was that my parents were supposed to be at the ceremony but my mon got sick and they had to cancel.

It is a wonderful way to reaffirm your love and devotion for one another. Congrats on making it to 25 years!

My husband and I had a lovely renewal of vowes ceremony on our 25th on Kauai. It has been six years since then, but our ceremony was nowhere near budget.

I had it arranged through Lihue Marriott and they had a wonderful lady perform the ceremony on the beach, professional photographer, leis for both of us, haku (head lei) for me, cake, champagne, a certificate, a sign in the lobby announcing the ceremony, etc. All we had to do was show up at a designated time, but I like it this way. And let me tell you that it was fabulous.

Having said that, there are many outfits on the island which you could contact and which I am sure would have a few packages to choose from for different type of spenders. If you purchase a copy of Hawaii Magazine at any newstand, you will find some relevant ads. Of course, you could also "google" search.

awesome input friends!
We will not have any family or friends with us, junt Dear Husband & Myself.
I will explore some of the options you have given & even see if I can find the Minister You mentioned.

Please feel free to send more suggestions if you have some.

I decided to surprise my husband on our 20th with a vow renewal in Vegas at a chapel called Graceland by a guy named Elvis. It was so much fun!!! Much better than our first wedding.

How about a Blue Hawaiian Wedding in Kauai at the place where Elvis' movies were filmed? Maybe by an Elvis impersonator? The hotel is suppose to be under renovation, but you could do some quick research. I think it was the "Coco Palms".

Hey, you only go around once, make it fun!

It's an event you will never forget!

My wife and I got married on Maui 5 years ago. Kirk Boes performed the ceremony. We just went back last week and did a renewal ceremony with Kirk and his wife Laura. They are really sweet people. We've stayed in touch with them over the years.

You can google "Kirk Boes Maui" and get several links to look at. We had a small wedding and renewal, just the two of us, and Kirk and Laura really made us feel at home.

Ok guys, again you shine thru with wisdom & experience!
I want to thank you ALL for your input.
I have made a decision for a minister & he will handle all arrangements & even pick us up from the Hotel.
With your help we decided to get married on the Island of Oahu and A reverend named Greg Christopherson will be marrying us.
I am thankful for all of your insight!
