Renaissance Wailea Beach Luau vs. Old Lahaina Luau

We'll be staying at the Renaissance Wailea in Maui for our honeymoon. Their Luau gets a good write-up in Maui Revealed. However, should we drive an hour to the more famous Old Lahaina Luau?

Anyone have advice or opinions about the Renaissance luau? This is for October...

Thanks!

We went to the Old Lahaina luau. I specifically picked this because it was not touristy (no hula contests) more traditional luaua. The sunset is beautiful at the harbor. Never been to the other.

Old Lahaina Luau is much more authentic but both are good.

We went to Old Lahaina a couple weeks ago and loved it. Haven't been to the one at the Renaissance so I can't compare either, but everyone we talked to on several islands highly recommended Old Lahaina. We were on the Radiance (which docked in Lahaina) so we walked there, only about a mile away through a mostly residential neighborhood once you get past the blocks of shops and restaurants.

If you don't want to drive then go to the Outrigger Wailea's Luau next door. Much better than the Renaissance. I own my own concierge business and I have tried them all. I like the food at the Outrigger better than Old lahaina. Old Lahaina has a better show. http://www.mauisps.com
