Relocating to Atlanta area

Have already gotten great info from this site! I am in the medical field (MRI), looking to live OTP. My wish list includes: a home in the 200-300 range, on an acre maybe, woodsy area, decent elem. school, nearby hospitals/Imaging Centers, within 60-90 min. of airport. Would love to be near a lake or major park! is this too much to ask?! Anyone out there in the medical profession?
Thanks, Diana (WPB, Florida)

Hi Diane--
I moved here from WPB 10.5 yrs ago and love it. Two of my friends and their families moved here from Wellington and we're all happy to have made the change.

I'm biased but I'd say look into Alpharetta which is in the northern part of Fulton Co. or Forsyth County. Schools are good, you can find a house in your price range and there are several hospitals and many med offices to look at.

In Sandy Springs alone, right off GA 400, are 3 hospitals: Northside (which also has a campus in Forsyth Co., not to mention other med. bldgs) St. Joes and Scottish Rite, a children's hospital.

I'm a teacher, not in the med profession but I have several friends who are doctors and nurses.

If you live in Forsyth Co, you will be near Lake Lanier. Fulton Co has some really nice parks. For example, we live in Alpharetta near Wills Park which has everything--swimming pool, tennis courts, equestrian, ballfields. walking/running paths and of course playgrounds.

Good luck!

Other medical centers to consider are are Southern Regional (south of town, so more convenient to the airport than locations north of town) and Gwinnet Medical Center. Further out still is Rockdale Medical center.

I'd also recommend Forsyth County based on your "wish list". You shouldn't have a problem finding a job in your field.
