Relaxing in Florida w/no driving

My family and I are planning a trip to Florida this summer. Any suggestions on a good resort on the beach within walking distance of resturants/shopping? I want a break from driving!!!

South Beach is a walking beach town.

Hollywood Beach can be but there isn't as much.

Lauderdale-By-The-Sea can also be done without car.

Definitely Key West but they have no beach.

Lido Beach Resort Lido Key in Sarasota. You are very close to St. Armands circle, with many shops and restaurants in all price ranges, you are close to a bird sanctuary, nature walk. The beach is great.

I stayed once at lido bch. resort. It was nice. The location is the best. It is fine for a short stay. There are only about 10 shops on St. Armands Circle. You might need a little more stimuli after 3 days or so. The beach is beautiful there.

another to consider is the Don Cesar or the Sheraton Sand Key. You can then use the beach trolley to go from Clearwater to Pass-A-Grille. Sweet.

You can also take a break from the beach area and take the trolley to downtown St. Pete which has a large movie complex, many shops, many restaurants, etc.

Actually there are over 130 shops and restaurants on St. Armands Circle.
