Recommendations for hotels in Morro Bay

With everyones help on this forum, we have got our trip in August booked with the exception of one night. This on the drive down from Monterey to LA. We want to visit Hearst Castle and believe that Morro Bay will be a good stopover for 1 night. Can anyone recommend a good hotel there which has views of the Rock?

I would also go for the Inn at Morro Bay. We have stayed there twice. But we aware that some rooms are much nicer than others. If you are not happy with the view or the room you have -ask to see an alternate room. It pays to be picky there. Have a great trip.

Even though it's a motor inn and not a hotel, I like the Blue Sail Inn. Next door is Dorn's, a very good restaurant. Some rooms have bay/ rock view. Also, my parents liked La Serena Inn.

Have you considered Cambria? It's a charming little town closer to Hearst Castle than Morro Bay, the inns along Moon stone Beach have lovely ocean views.

I agree that Cambria is a more charming place to overnight. Especially moonstone beach area. We loved our stay at Moonstone Landing, get a room with balcony.

***kim***Thanks for the tip. But, Scoobydoo, Cambria is a better place to stay for the Hearst Castle experience. San Luis Obispo has a lot to offer, too.

Cambria is very nice. If you do decide on this area, the Blue Whale Inn, the Cypress Cove Inn and the BW Fireside are all nice places, right on Moonstone Drive. Blue Whale Inn is a B&B with really great homemade breakfasts. ***kim***
