Recommendations for graduation dinner in/near Amherst?

My daughter and her boyfriend want to have a small graduation party for their families in or near Amherst. They are hoping to find a private room at a restaurant, and do this without spending tons of money. Does anyone have a recommendation? I've been looking around, but all of my usual ideas are not working out for one reason or another. Would really welcome some suggestions! Thanks so much. BTW, we are willing to go to Northampton if necessary, but would rather not since Rte. 9 is going to be a nightmare after graduation!

Carmelina's on Route 9 (can get there quick by taking side roads, rather than Rt 9) has excellent Italian food. We went to Applebee's after my Engineering graduation in 01.

Spaghetti Freddy's at the Depot in North Hampton but agreed on traffic.

What type of food? How many people?

tchoiniere,

Thanks so much for the great ideas! There will be fourteen of us. Italian sounds perfect, but will try almost anyplace that can accommodate us! Is Carmelina's in Hadley?

Thanks again! Any thoughts about places in town? My daughter lives very close to U Mass campus, so we could walk. We all love JUDI'S, but they don't take reservations.

In town, you have Bertucci's who may take a reservation, Amherst Brewing Company (doubt they will take a reservation). There are a few other new restaurants too that I am not familiar with.

There is a good Italian restaurant on Boltwood Walk downtown Amherst: La Piazza.
