Recommendation for accommodation near Hearst Castle please

On our trip up the coast from Santa Barbara to SF we would like to visit Hearst Castle. I would be grateful for suggestions of accommodation nearby. (mid-late September)
Thanks

We enjoyed staying at Moonstone Beach at Cambria. There are several hotel options there. We really liked the Best Western Fireside Inn.

We stayed at Cambria Pines--a very rustic--but comfortable-- place that reminded me more of being in Maine than CA! A lot of people on here have recommended places on the coast in Cambria, whereas this place is on the edge of the town, but in a wooded, garden setting. If you search Cambria and or Cambria lodging, you should get a lot of info.

there are accomodations at san simeon, about 6 miles south of hearst castle. ragged point is about 15 miles north and we like the inn/motel there. not fancy, but there's a restaurant and the view is forever.

We stayed at the Best Western Cavalier Resort in San Simeon. We had oceanfront rooms which they were very nice. There is a restaurant also and the food was quite good.

After our tour at Hearst Castle, we had lunch at the Ragged Point Inn mentioned by willis. There are great views-if it's clear! There was a wedding while we had our (late) lunch which we and the other diners were able to watch.

We have stayed at Cambria Pines and at the Best Western on Moonstone Dr. in Cambria. Both were reasonably priced, the Best Western was probably the most comfortable. And I liked the fact that the BW was across the street from the ocean. Neither place is within walking distance of restaurants in the town of Cambria.
