Tandoori_Girl, I love Woody's...that was just my "friend", being his usual self, and said only because he knows we love it. That little beach bar is typical of most, a mix of everything...tourists, locals, blue collar and those who came over from Pasadena Yacht and CC! I've got a very sensitive "tough" meter, though, and it doesn't even begin to register on my scale. We go over late Sunday afternoons--we keep a boat in Gulfport and it's a convenient stop after coming in off the water and Tony sings the sort of things you want to hear on a Sunday afternoon with the sun setting over the water. Now, talk about tough, we could stop off at O'Maddy's in Gulfport! That does register as tough...but tough with character. We occasionally hear some great blues coming from that bar...but I'm afraid to go in! I love the old FL places and we are losing them fast.

Hi OO, don't know what you mean about Woody's being blue collar...Was there a comment here that got censored? Certainly, it would be more like blue bikini than blue collar...
BTW, I have to laugh at your comment about Maddy's...I once went to a sort of Irish wake party for a tough bird who died...and you guessed it...it was at O'Maddy's! It ain't so bad, long as you like beer!
P.S. to TandooriGirl: which street is your house on? I live on Sunset! On second thought, don't answer here, you better email me (joanleak at hotmail), I'll explain why...

Yes, we are losing the old Florida places fast, OO. We bought a beach house in Sunset Beach a couple of years ago, just off the beach. We liked that area because we could stumble home from Rick's, Beach Nuts, Caddy's, or the Ka'Tiki. Now Rick's is gone, Beach Nuts is closed and will be torn down soon. The house is rented most of the time -- we really miss the Florida low-life over there (we live in Tampa). Good to hear someone is waving the flag in our behalf. Keep up the good work.
