reasonably priced spa vacation
I live in Los Angeles and have a stressful job. I would like to go away to a spa for a few days or a week where I would get massages, relax in bathes, etc. However, all the spas I find are quite expensive.
Any suggestions?

What's your definition of "quite expensive"?
You might consider the Phoenix/Scottsdale area at this time of year, which is their off-season. One reasonably priced possibility is the Marriott Camelback, which has a full-service spa. To do it on the cheap, you could stay across the street at the other Marriott (I think it's called "Mountain Shadows") which has cheaper rooms but still gives you access to Camelback's spa.
It's going to be hotter than blazes there, but if you're spending most of your time at the spa, who cares?

I've not been there, but have looked at website for Red Mountain Spa in Utah. I think they've got a special price running now thru September. I spoke with one of their reps a few months ago at a travel convention in my town. She described the climate as 'high desert' --- during summertime, warm during the day & cool at nights. It sounds fairly easy to get there. Can fly into Las Vegas and then arrange for a shuttle service to drive you up to St. George, Utah --- info on their website. OR there is a small airport at St. George. For me (coming from Tx) I'd have to fly up to Salt Lake City and then connect to commuter flight to St. George. You may have direct options out of LAX.
Now the one spa that I HAVE been to and is very, very reasonably priced (speaking in spa terms) is down in Mexico. "Rio Caliente" is just outside of Guadalajara, Mexico --- www.riocaliente.com. It's not a fancy place, but the services were good and the price is right.
