Reasonable Accomodations near Cooperstown

Hello! I'm late in planning the family vacation in early August but need recommendations on clean lodging with private bath around the Cooperstown area. Saw recommendation for the Cooper Inn but price online was $280!! Looking for something less than $150. Travelling from Boston area to Cooperstown then on to Niagara Falls and Toronto. On way back hitting Syracuse for AAAbaseball game. Any recommendations for the Syracuse area would be appreciated, too. Thank you all in advance!

Instead of staying in Cooperstown, head up to the thruway (Rt90) area for reasonable accomodations.

In Syracuse there a number of "suite-style" hotels at thruway exit 35 (Rt 298) like Residence Inn, Embassy Suites, etc. Be sure to visit the Armory Square area downtown.

Hi Maureen,

Try http://www.freehotelguide.com we have some rate around $200.00. I'm not sure you can find anything cheaper.

Good luck, Randy

If that hotel guide can only get $200 rooms dump it in a heart beat, it's a stinker. Either go the local B&B route if you're into that or stay outside of Cooperstown. There are a set of hotels all about 20 miles around Cooperstown - Best Westerns in Little Falls in one direction, Cobleskill in another, Oneonta has the best of the in the Clarion but you may or may not get a rate at $150 but also there is a Holiday Inn on 23 that will be in that range for sure. There's a Rode Way in Palatine Bridge that's alright but nothing fancy. For convenience I would go with the Holiday Inn as more like 15 mi. than 20 if $150 is alright. For more like $100 and 20 mi. go for either of the Best Westerns for right about $100 a night.

Thanks for all of your responses. I will check out the Tunnicliff Inn as well as the Clarion, Holiday Inn etc in surrounding areas. We have never stayed at a B&B but I will check that out too. Hopefully I can let you know how I made out to help future travellers.

We did the exact same trip a couple of years ago. Stay anywhere but Utica, NY - which is where we ended up because we waited too long to make reservations. The only good thing was we saw our favorite minor league team (Lowell Spinners) play Utica in the evening. But Utica is a pit! Don't have a map in front of me, but there were multiple chain hotels right off interstate (?Rte 90) at several exits - I would get a map and try towns along the way. We are all big baseball fans, but were not as thrilled with Hall of Fame as we had thought we would be. There is also a Farmer's Museum in Cooperstown which was surprisingly good.
