Quiet Hotel in South Beach

My husband and I would like a recommendation(s) for a hotel(s) in Miami which is right on (or across the street) from the beach, but is not right in the heart of all the noise. We love good restaurants and nightlife, but would enjoy a restful sleep as well. We are going there during Memorial Day week. Thanks

Hi Dina,

My freinds and I stayed at the Signum Resort which was a block from the beach but was very quiet. Sorry I don't remember the phone number. Hope this help.

You're going to have a tough time finding a quiet room in a hotel right on the beach. From our experience, the noise carries to the rooms in the rear at hotels right on the Ocean Blvd. If you want quiet at night, you're probably going to have to settle for a place a block from the beach. That should still be okay as you'll still be in the heart of things in South Beach, and there are some nice hotels a block from the beach.

We stayed at the Essex House Hotel in January, on Collins Ave, one block in from Ocean Ave, which is the street along the beach. The hotel is very nice, but even with their soundproofed windows, we did hear the thump thumping of the music on Sat night at the Clevelander, which is on Ocean Ave. The location is excellent, they include a nice breakfast, but be forewarned on a little noise.

I would agree with the previous posting. Your best bet would be to stay on Collins Ave., which is a block away, but much less noise.

if you are looking for a real nice place for a moderate price that is right on the beach, consider The Surfcomber, which is on Collins and 17thSt ( A couple of doors from the ultra chic Delano)
This hotel, which is part of The Hamptons Inn chain, probably is their nicest hotel. It is One of those Art Deco style Hotels that has been just recently renovated from top to bottom, a they really did a fantastic job. Think of it as the delano on an Ikea budget. As with other Hampton Inns, you get a contiental breakfast and free phone calls with the room rate. There is a nice, large swimming pool right on the beach. It averages about $170/nt, although you might be able to get it a bit cheaper from www.180096hotel.com

Dina, a couple of years ago my sister also wanted a quiet place right on the beach. We had never been to South Beach and decided to take our chances on finding a place when we got there. We started on the north end of the beach and walked all the way down, stopping at each hotel along the way. At some, we asked to see the rooms. Most of them are either across the sidewalk and sand to the water and/or in the middle of all the action. Halfway, we stopped for lunch on the outdoor patio at the Delano. Then we were off on our search again. At the very end of the street we found an elegant hotel called the Savoy which was the answer to our dreams. It wasn't listed in any of our guide books. It may be a "time share" type place, but they had rooms at about $130/night. Our room was outfitted like a Turkish harem, with a canopy bed. Great pool and deck area with a private beach. Good luck and have fun!

How much do you want to spend? The new Loews Hotel is right on the beach and right at the north end of the "action", walking distance to all the hot spots of Ocean Drive and Washington Street, and a very short stroll to Lincoln Road. It is a beautiful new hotel, but built with a hint of art deco, and adjoined to one of the old hotels, redone and used primarily for a restaurant and meeting rooms. It is indeed quiet. And if you really want to splurge, go for one of the club level rooms where a very nice breakfast is served in the private lounge (even with wonderful smoked salmon) and complimentary cocktails in the evening.

Hi, it's me again. I just found a website where you can check out the Savoy. It's http://www.sunterra.com
Click on Resort Directory and then click on Savoy at South Beach. You can take a virtual tour. Apparently it is a time share property but they have some rooms they rent by the day.
