Quick Night in Las Vegas

We have a spur of the moment super-quick night in Vegas. (I almost posted a Quickie in Vegas, but knew what kind of suggestions I would get then) Dinner is taken care of. Any suggestions places to visit after 10pm?

We are interested in Old Vegas, vintage, tiki stuff, shopping, people watching. Probably not up for a show this time and we aren't interested in gambling.

TIA,
Gem

Fremont street for their light show.

The dancing fountains are always spectactular too!

The Greek Isles for "old Vegas" type atmosphere. They have karaoke in a "lounge" that is a real hoot to watch. We went their for the Rat Pack show and the karaoke was going on as we walked through to the street.

We rode the monorail to Convention Street and then walked about 2 blocks to the Greek Isles.

For people watching and shopping there is no place better than the Forum shops at Ceasurs Palace. It was expanded a year or two ago and is amazing. I don't think you wold want to go to downtown (the mayor says hes going to fix it up - im not going down there till he actually does - its disgusting) i would stay on the strip if i were you. Just walk the strip. If you want vintage vegas there is still plenty of it on the strip... imperial palace, flamingo, ballys... i would keep to the strip tho. Definitely the forum shops tho. o! and they stay open till midnight but its still a people watching place after that - shopping til midnight, what more could u ask for!

Thanks, vegasnative. I'd love to explore some of these more old-Vegas type places. I'm also intrigued with the whole Tiki theme sparklegem mentioned.

Hi Jayne,

The Peppermill was very cool. You might want to check out tikiroom.com critiki.com . The Book of Tiki and Tiki Road Trip are excellent.

Very Best,
Gem

Thanks, Gem. I never knew Tiki was a little subculture of its own! Love it.
I looked at these sites and never found anything about the Balinese Room in Galveston, Texas. I would think it's considered Tiki, too.

Hi Jayne,

The Balinese looks super cool!

You should post a review of it. Just a word of warning- if there are no actual tikis some people will be affended if you call it tiki, but it is deffinately cool and I know that many people would love to learn about it.
